Train To Teach
Train to Teach With Invictus
Have you recently graduated, about to graduate or feel that you need a career change….?
If so, teaching could be the career for you. It is one of – if not the most- rewarding professions, where you can transform young people’s lives, regardless of their background.
As a teacher, you can use your subject knowledge and passion for teaching to help students become enthusiastic about learning and studying. It could be your lessons that help to shape a young person’s future and the career path that they eventually choose.
To become a qualified teacher in state-maintained schools across the UK, prospective trainees will need to undertake Initial Teacher Training (ITT) or Initial Teacher Education (ITE). Entry is generally competitive, but less so for shortage subjects such as Maths, Physics and Languages. Completion of an ITT course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England and Wales.
Invictus schools work in collaboration with Barr Beacon SCITT and Haybridge SCITT to offer full time (1 year) secondary and primary Initial Teacher Training programmes.
Once qualified, there are many opportunities for good teachers to climb the career ladder and find employment. The starting salary is £30,000 in 2023.
Who are we?
Invictus Education is a well-regarded value driven Trust located in the heart of the West Midlands, holding young people at the centre of everything that we do. Our Trust is made up of six secondary schools, one primary school with nursery provision, a sixth form and two alternative provisions. In all of our educational settings, our value one prevails: ‘Every day, in every way, our students come first’.
All of our schools will provide school-based placements for the training year recruited. We exist through our mission to provide our schools with the resources to offer independent minded education to our communities. Our academic focus is on progress which is achievable through exceptional teaching delivered by outstanding teachers, supported by outstanding teams. In every step of our journey, we identify our aspiration and put processes in place to exceed expectations ‘starting with the end in mind’, our value number six. At Invictus we encourage our staff and students to ‘seek and seize opportunities’.
Training teachers is imperative to our success. We focus on subject knowledge and pedagogy, expert mentorship and offer enriched pathways through our Trust people development programme, allowing us ‘to grow our own’ Throughout the course a weekly programme of professional studies workshops are delivered by experts at Haybridge SCITT. The programme addresses the development needs each trainee. This stimulating programme of professional and subject studies explores the philosophy of education and the pedagogy associated with the teaching of a subject. We look forward to meeting you.
